Matsya Purana — Paurava Genealogy: Bharata
भरतस्तु भरद्वाजं पुत्रं प्राप्य विभुर् ब्रवीत् आदाव् आत्महिताय त्वं कृतार्थो ऽहं त्वया विभो //
bharatastu bharadvājaṃ putraṃ prāpya vibhur bravīt ādāv ātmahitāya tvaṃ kṛtārtho 'haṃ tvayā vibho //
But Bharata, having obtained Bharadvāja as his son, spoke thus: “From the very beginning you have acted for your own highest good; through you, O mighty one, I have been fulfilled and my purpose accomplished.”
This verse does not address pralaya or cosmic creation; it belongs to a genealogical/lineage narrative highlighting familial succession and fulfillment through a son.
It reflects the Purāṇic ideal that a householder-king seeks continuity of dharma through progeny; the son is portrayed as the means by which the father’s aims (kṛtārthatā) and responsibilities toward lineage are completed.
No Vāstu, temple-building, iconography, or ritual procedure is mentioned in this verse; its focus is personal praise and lineage fulfillment.
