Matsya Purana — Paurava Genealogy
एते शरद्वतः पुत्रा आख्याता गौतमा वराः अत ऊर्ध्वं प्रवक्ष्यामि दिवोदासस्य वै प्रजाः //
ete śaradvataḥ putrā ākhyātā gautamā varāḥ ata ūrdhvaṃ pravakṣyāmi divodāsasya vai prajāḥ //
These excellent Gautamas—sons of Śaradvata—have been described. Now, from here onward, I shall recount the descendants of Divodāsa.
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it functions as a transition in a genealogical account, moving from the Gautama/Śaradvata line to the lineage of King Divodāsa.
Indirectly, it supports the Purāṇic ideal of preserving lineage memory (vaṃśa-smṛti): kingship and household life are framed within continuity of descent, succession, and the transmission of dharma across generations.
No vāstu, temple iconography, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it is purely a narrative linkage within dynastic genealogy.
