Matsya Purana — Navagraha Sacrifice for Planetary Pacification and Prosperity
तृतीयः कोटिहोमस्तु सर्वकामफलप्रदः अयुतेनाहुतीनां च नवग्रहमखः स्मृतः //
tṛtīyaḥ koṭihomastu sarvakāmaphalapradaḥ ayutenāhutīnāṃ ca navagrahamakhaḥ smṛtaḥ //
The third is the koṭi-homa, which bestows the fruits of all desired aims. And the Navagraha-sacrifice is remembered as consisting of ten thousand oblations (āhuti).
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it focuses on ritual efficacy—large-scale homa and a Navagraha-focused makha measured by a fixed number of oblations.
It presents sanctioned ritual means (homa and graha-śānti) by which a householder or ruler may seek prosperity and the fulfillment of aims, aligning personal goals with dharmic, scripturally remembered procedures.
Ritually, it specifies scale and structure: a “koṭi-homa” as a major fire-offering and a Navagraha-makha defined by ten thousand (ayuta) oblations—useful for planning graha-śānti ceremonies.
