Matsya Purana — Navagraha Sacrifice for Planetary Pacification and Prosperity
प्रागुत्तरेण तस्माच्च दध्यक्षतविभूषितम् चूतपल्लवसंछन्नं फलवस्त्रयुगान्वितम् //
prāguttareṇa tasmācca dadhyakṣatavibhūṣitam cūtapallavasaṃchannaṃ phalavastrayugānvitam //
On its east–north side, it should be adorned with curds and unbroken rice-grains (akṣata), covered with mango leaves, and furnished with fruits and a pair of cloths.
This verse is not about Pralaya; it gives procedural ritual directions—especially auspicious placement and adornment—rather than cosmology or dissolution.
It reflects the householder/royal duty to perform rites correctly: arranging offerings and auspicious materials (curds, akṣata, leaves, fruits, cloth) in the proper direction as part of dharmic observance.
The northeast (īśāna) orientation is treated as highly auspicious; the specified materials are standard markers of śubha-kriyā—purity (dadhi), completeness (akṣata), sanctifying greenery (mango leaves), and prosperity/offerings (fruits, cloth).
