Matsya Purana — Lineage of the Pitṛs
सिंहिका कृतशौचे तु कार्त्तिकेये यशस्करी उत्पलावर्तके लोला सुभद्रा शोणसंगमे //
siṃhikā kṛtaśauce tu kārttikeye yaśaskarī utpalāvartake lolā subhadrā śoṇasaṃgame //
At Kṛtaśauca there is (the sacred place) Siṃhikā; at Kārttikeya, (the tirtha called) Yaśaskarī, bestowing fame; at Utpalāvartaka, (the tirtha named) Lolā; and at the confluence of the Śoṇa, (the tirtha named) Subhadrā.
This verse is not about Pralaya; it is a catalog of tirthas (sacred sites), focusing on place-names and a river confluence rather than cosmic dissolution.
Indirectly, it supports the householder/kingly ideal of dharmic travel—visiting tirthas, honoring deities, and gaining merit and good repute (yaśas), suggested by the epithet “Yaśaskarī” (fame-bestowing).
Ritually, it highlights saṅgama (river-confluence) sanctity—sites like “Śoṇa-saṅgama” are classically associated with tīrtha-snān (sacred bathing) and offerings; no explicit Vāstu or temple-building rule is stated in this verse.
