Matsya Purana — Kārtavīrya Arjuna’s Solar Boon and the Genealogy from Kroṣṭu to the Yādava Lines
स तु प्रसूतिमिच्छन् वै रुषङ्गुः सौम्यमात्मजम् चित्रश्चित्ररथश्चास्य पुत्रः कर्मभिरन्वितः //
sa tu prasūtimicchan vai ruṣaṅguḥ saumyamātmajam citraścitrarathaścāsya putraḥ karmabhiranvitaḥ //
Desiring offspring, Ruṣaṅgu begot a gentle-natured son. His son was Citra—also known as Citraratha—endowed with worthy deeds.
This verse is genealogical, focusing on succession and progeny; it does not discuss Pralaya, but it supports the Purana’s broader aim of preserving lineages across cosmic cycles.
It highlights the householder-kingly ideal of continuing the lineage (prasūti) and praises a successor “endowed with deeds,” implying that merit and righteous action are central to royal legitimacy.
No Vastu, temple, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it functions as a lineage marker within the Matsya Purana’s dynastic record.
