Matsya Purana — Inquiry into Taraka’s Slaying and the Prelude to Guha
समरे शक्रहन्तारं स तस्या अददात्प्रभुः //
samare śakrahantāraṃ sa tasyā adadātprabhuḥ //
In battle, the Lord bestowed upon her (a son) who would be the slayer of Śakra (Indra).
This verse does not address Pralaya; it is framed as a battlefield episode involving a bestowed warrior described as “Śakra-slayer.”
It reflects a Rajadharma motif: a sovereign “bestows” protection or a champion in times of conflict, underscoring the ruler’s role in safeguarding dependents and upholding order during war.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is mentioned in this verse; it is purely narrative and martial in vocabulary.
