Matsya Purana — Ila–Sudyumna Episode and the Expansion of the Ikṣvāku
दृढाश्वस्य प्रमोदश्च हर्यश्वस्तस्य चात्मजः हर्यश्वस्य निकुम्भो ऽभूत् संहताश्वस् ततो ऽभवत् //
dṛḍhāśvasya pramodaśca haryaśvastasya cātmajaḥ haryaśvasya nikumbho 'bhūt saṃhatāśvas tato 'bhavat //
From Dṛḍhāśva was born Pramoda, and his son was Haryaśva. From Haryaśva came Nikumbha, and thereafter Saṃhatāśva was born.
This verse does not describe Pralaya; it records a royal genealogy, listing successive descendants in a dynastic line.
Indirectly, it situates dharma within lineage: the Matsya Purana often preserves royal successions to frame how righteous kingship and inherited responsibility are transmitted through dynasties.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it is purely genealogical.
