Matsya Purana — Genealogy of the Śūra–Vasudeva
कृतस्य तु श्रुतादेवी सुग्रीवं सुषुवे सुतम् कैकेय्यां श्रुतकीर्त्यां तु जज्ञे सो ऽनुव्रतो नृपः //
kṛtasya tu śrutādevī sugrīvaṃ suṣuve sutam kaikeyyāṃ śrutakīrtyāṃ tu jajñe so 'nuvrato nṛpaḥ //
To Kṛta, Śrutādevī bore a son named Sugrīva; and by Kaikeyī, Śrutakīrti gave birth to the king Anuvrata.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it is a genealogical record noting births in a royal lineage, typical of the Matsya Purana’s dynastic sections.
Indirectly, it situates kingship within lawful succession and family lineage—an underlying Purāṇic framework for rājadharma where rule is transmitted through recognized heirs.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is mentioned; the verse is purely genealogical, naming mothers and sons for lineage continuity.
