Matsya Purana — Genealogy of Kaśyapa: Ādityas
एते सहस्रकिरणा आदित्या द्वादश स्मृताः मारीचात्कश्यपादाप पुत्रानदितिरुत्तमान् //
ete sahasrakiraṇā ādityā dvādaśa smṛtāḥ mārīcātkaśyapādāpa putrānaditiruttamān //
These radiant deities, thousand-rayed, are remembered as the twelve Ādityas. From Marīci came Kaśyapa, and from Kaśyapa the noble Aditi obtained these excellent sons.
It does not describe Pralaya directly; it situates cosmic order through genealogy by identifying the twelve Ādityas as Aditi’s sons in the Marīci–Kaśyapa lineage.
Indirectly, it supports the Purāṇic emphasis on lineage (vaṁśa) and rightful continuity—ideas used elsewhere to ground royal legitimacy and household dharma in well-defined ancestral lines.
No Vāstu or temple-rule detail appears in this verse; its ritual relevance is chiefly identificatory—naming the Ādityas as a recognized divine group often invoked in solar-oriented rites.
