Matsya Purana — Genealogy of Kaśyapa: Ādityas
मारीचिर् मेघवांश्चैव इरा गर्भशिरास् तथा विद्रावणश्च केतुश्च केतुवीर्यः शतह्रदः //
mārīcir meghavāṃścaiva irā garbhaśirās tathā vidrāvaṇaśca ketuśca ketuvīryaḥ śatahradaḥ //
Marīci, Meghavān, and also Irā; likewise Garbhaśiras; and Vidrāvaṇa, Ketu, Ketuvīrya, and Śatahrada—these are the names enumerated here.
This verse does not describe Pralaya directly; it functions as a name-list within the Purāṇic mapping of primordial lineages/sages that frame creation-era chronology.
Indirectly: such enumerations establish sacred ancestry and authoritative transmission (paramparā), which Purāṇas use to ground dharma—kings and householders are urged to align conduct with these inherited traditions.
No Vāstu or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it is primarily an onomastic (name-catalogue) passage supporting the Purāṇa’s genealogical framework.
