Matsya Purana — Genealogy from Budha to Purūravas and Yayāti; Raji’s war episode; the Paurava...
पौरवो वंश इत्येष ख्यातिं लोके गमिष्यति ततः स नृपशार्दूलः पूरुं राज्ये ऽभिषिच्य च //
pauravo vaṃśa ityeṣa khyātiṃ loke gamiṣyati tataḥ sa nṛpaśārdūlaḥ pūruṃ rājye 'bhiṣicya ca //
This lineage shall become renowned in the world as the Paurava dynasty. Thereafter that tiger among kings consecrated Pūru, anointing him to sovereign rule.
This verse does not address Pralaya; it focuses on dynastic fame and the political act of consecrating Puru as king, a genealogical-historical theme.
It highlights legitimate succession through abhiṣeka (royal consecration), implying dharmic kingship: a ruler establishes order by properly installing an heir and ensuring continuity of governance.
The key ritual term is abhiṣeka—formal consecration/anointing—central to royal rites (rajyābhiṣeka), though no Vastu or temple-building rule is stated in this verse.
