Matsya Purana — Genealogy from Budha to Purūravas and Yayāti; Raji’s war episode; the Paurava...
ययातिरब्रवीत् पुत्राञ् जरा मे प्रतिगृह्यताम् यौवनेनाथ भवतां चरेयं विषयानहम् //
yayātirabravīt putrāñ jarā me pratigṛhyatām yauvanenātha bhavatāṃ careyaṃ viṣayānaham //
Yayāti said to his sons: “Accept my old age; and with your youth, I shall roam and enjoy the objects of sense.”
This verse is not about Pralaya; it belongs to the dynastic-ethical narrative (Yayāti episode) and focuses on human desire, aging, and the moral consequences of sense enjoyment.
It highlights a king’s (and householder’s) tension between kama (sense desire) and dharma: Yayāti seeks prolonged enjoyment by shifting the burden of old age, implying that unchecked desire can lead to ethically problematic choices and later repentance in Purāṇic moral framing.
No Vāstu, temple-construction, iconography, or ritual procedure is mentioned in this verse; it is a moral-genealogical statement within the Yayāti narrative.
