Matsya Purana — Genealogy from Budha to Purūravas and Yayāti; Raji’s war episode; the Paurava...
ययातिर्नाहुषश्चासीद् राजा सत्यपराक्रमः पालयामास स महीम् ईजे च विधिवन्मखैः //
yayātirnāhuṣaścāsīd rājā satyaparākramaḥ pālayāmāsa sa mahīm īje ca vidhivanmakhaiḥ //
Yayāti, the son of Nāhuṣa, was a king whose valor was true and unwavering. He protected the earth and performed sacrifices (yajñas) duly, in accordance with proper rite.
This verse does not address pralaya or cosmology; it focuses on royal genealogy and the model conduct of a king—protection of the realm and performance of duly prescribed sacrifices.
It presents a classic Rajadharma ideal: the king must protect the land and people (पालयामास महीम्) and uphold sacred order through properly performed sacrifices (विधिवन्मखैः), linking governance with ritual responsibility.
Ritually, it emphasizes vidhivat performance of makhas—sacrifices done according to correct procedure, qualified priests, and prescribed rules; no Vāstu or temple-architecture detail is stated in this verse.
