Matsya Purana — Dynastic Genealogies: Paurava–Anu Lines
दधिवाहनपुत्रस्तु राजा दिविरथः स्मृतः आसीद् दिविरथापत्यं विद्वान्धर्मरथो नृपः //
dadhivāhanaputrastu rājā divirathaḥ smṛtaḥ āsīd divirathāpatyaṃ vidvāndharmaratho nṛpaḥ //
The son of Dadhivāhana was the king remembered as Diviratha. From Diviratha’s lineage arose the wise ruler Dharmaratha.
This verse does not address Pralaya; it is a genealogical notice naming successive kings in a royal line.
By highlighting a ‘vidvān’ (learned) king named Dharmaratha, the verse implicitly upholds the Purāṇic ideal that rulers should be educated and aligned with dharma, even when the passage is primarily genealogical.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it functions purely as a dynastic succession record.
