Matsya Purana — Cosmography of Jambūdvīpa: Varṣas
*सूत उवाच इत्युक्तवानृषीन्ब्रह्मा वर्षाणि च निसर्गतः पूर्वं ममानुग्रहकृद् भूयः किं वर्णयामि वः //
*sūta uvāca ityuktavānṛṣīnbrahmā varṣāṇi ca nisargataḥ pūrvaṃ mamānugrahakṛd bhūyaḥ kiṃ varṇayāmi vaḥ //
Sūta said: Thus did Brahmā address the sages, speaking of the years and the natural order from the earliest times. Having shown me his favor, what more shall I describe to you?
It points to cosmological chronology—“years” and the “natural order” (nisarga)—as the framework of creation history being narrated, rather than describing a specific pralaya event in this single verse.
Indirectly, it models the Purāṇic method of transmitting dharma: authoritative instruction from a creator-figure (Brahmā) to sages, then faithfully relayed by Sūta—supporting the ideal that rulers/householders should learn conduct from established śāstric lineages.
No direct Vāstu or ritual procedure is stated here; the verse functions as a narrative transition emphasizing authoritative cosmological teaching before further details are given elsewhere in the Matsya Purāṇa.
