Matsya Purana — Cosmography of Jambūdvīpa: Varṣas
एतद्ब्रवीहि नः सर्वं विस्तरेण यथार्थवित् त्वदुक्तमेतत्सकलं श्रोतुमिच्छामहे वयम् //
etadbravīhi naḥ sarvaṃ vistareṇa yathārthavit tvaduktametatsakalaṃ śrotumicchāmahe vayam //
O knower of the truth, tell us all of this in full detail. We wish to hear completely everything that has been spoken by you.
This verse does not directly describe Pralaya; it functions as Manu’s request that Matsya explain the subject (whatever was just introduced) fully and accurately—often the lead-in to detailed cosmology, dharma, or ritual exposition.
It models the dharmic posture of a ruler/householder: seeking complete instruction from a truthful authority, emphasizing careful listening (śravaṇa) before action—an essential prerequisite for righteous governance and disciplined household life.
No specific Vāstu or ritual rule is stated here; the verse is a formal request for a comprehensive explanation, which in Vāstu/ritual contexts signals that precise, step-by-step prescriptions are about to be given.
