Matsya Purana — Characteristics of Dvāpara and Kali Yugas
एवं वर्षशतं पूर्णं दिव्यं तेषां न्यवर्तत षट्त्रिंशच्च सहस्राणि मानुषाणि तु तानि वै //
evaṃ varṣaśataṃ pūrṇaṃ divyaṃ teṣāṃ nyavartata ṣaṭtriṃśacca sahasrāṇi mānuṣāṇi tu tāni vai //
Thus, when their full span of one hundred divine years had elapsed, that amounted indeed to thirty-six thousand human years.
It does not describe Pralaya directly; it establishes the Purāṇic scale of time by converting divine years into human years, a framework used to narrate Manvantaras and cyclic dissolutions.
Indirectly, it supports dharma by teaching proportion and long-term perspective: rulers and householders are urged in Purāṇic ethics to govern and live with awareness of larger time cycles rather than short-term gain.
No Vāstu or ritual procedure is specified in this verse; its practical use is chronological—timing vows, periods, and Purāṇic eras by aligning ‘divine’ durations with human reckoning.
