ततः शड्खाश्न भेर्यश्व॒ गोमुखा डम्बरास्तथा,तदनन्तर कुन्तीपुत्रोंके साथ सम्बन्ध स्थापित करनेवाले मत्स्यनरेशके महलमें शंख, नगाड़े, गोमुख और डम्बर आदि भाँति-भाँतिके बाजे बजने लगे। साथ ही उन्होंने खानेयोग्य अन्न, भोज्य और पीने आदिकी सामग्री भी प्रचुर मात्रामें प्रस्तुत की
tataḥ śaṅkhāś ca bheryaś ca gomukhā ḍambarās tathā | tadanantaraṁ kuntīputraiḥ saha sambandhaṁ sthāpayituṁ matsyanareśasya mahale śaṅkha-nagāḍa-gomukha-ḍambara-prabhṛtayo nānāvidhā vādyāni vāditāni | sārdhaṁ ca bhojanīyānna-bhojya-peyādi-sāmagrī api pracuram upanītā ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Then conches and kettle-drums, the gomukha-horns and ḍambara-drums, and other instruments were sounded. Thereafter, in the palace of the king of Matsya—who was about to establish ties of alliance with the sons of Kuntī—many kinds of music resounded, and abundant provisions were brought forth as well: food fit to be eaten, dishes to be enjoyed, and drinks in plenty.
