इसी समय राजकुमार उत्तर बड़े हर्षके साथ स्वच्छन्दतापूर्वक नगरमें आये। मार्ममें उनके ऊपर उत्तम गन्ध और भाँति-भाँतिके पुष्पहार बरसाये जा रहे थे ।। सभाज्यमान: पौरैश्व स्त्रीभिर्जानपदैस्तथा । आसाद्य भवनद्वारं पित्रे सम्प्रत्यवेदयत्,मत्स्यदेशके लोगों, पुरवासियों तथा सुन्दरी स्त्रियोंने उनका स्वागत किया; फिर राजभवनके द्वारपर पहुँचकर उन्होंने पिताको अपने आगमनकी सूचना करवायी
vaishampāyana uvāca | sabhājyamānaḥ pauraiś ca strībhiḥ jānapadais tathā | āsādya bhavanadvāraṃ pitre sampratyavedayat ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Honoured and welcomed by the townsmen, by the women, and by the people of the countryside as well, Uttara reached the gate of the royal palace and had his arrival announced to his father. The scene underscores the public recognition of princely duty and the decorum of reporting oneself to the king, even amid festive acclaim.
