Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
दीर्घबाहुर्महातेजा बलरूपसमन्वित: । सर्वलोकेषु विक्रान्तो भारद्वाज: प्रतापवान्,जिनके श्रेष्ठ रथमें जुते हुए सब प्रकारकी शिक्षाओंमें निपुण, चिकने, मूँगेके समान लाल रंगके, ताँबे-से मुखवाले, सुन्दर तथा अच्छे ढंगसे रथका भार वहन करनेवाले बड़े-बड़े अश्व सुशोभित हो रहे हैं, वे महातेजस्वी दीर्घबाहु, बल एवं रूपसे सम्पन्न तथा समस्त संसारमें विख्यात पराक्रमी प्रतापी वीर भरद्वाजनन्दन द्रोण हैं

dīrghabāhur mahātejā balarūpasamanvitaḥ |
sarvalokeṣu vikrānto bhāradvājaḥ pratāpavān |
Arjuna said: “Long-armed, radiant with great splendor, endowed with strength and noble presence, renowned for his prowess throughout the worlds—this is the mighty Bhāradvāja (Droṇa), a hero of formidable valor.” In the epic’s ethical frame, Arjuna’s words acknowledge excellence and martial authority even in an adversary, reflecting the Kṣatriya ideal of honoring merit and power while preparing for the demands of conflict.
