Karna said: “Indeed, Bībhatsu (Arjuna) has lived in disciplined concentration for thirteen years; yet in this battle his affection and attachment are fully awakened. Therefore he will strike at me with his arrows.”

Even long discipline and self-control can be tested by personal bonds and rivalries; in war, attachment (sneha) can become a decisive motive that drives action, for good or ill, alongside duty.
Karna assesses Arjuna’s mindset: though Arjuna has spent thirteen years in austerity and restraint, Karna believes Arjuna’s personal attachment and battle-zeal are now aroused, so Arjuna will directly attack Karna with arrows.
