Teacher-Reconciliation, Timing-Policy, and the Fault of Factionalism

शस्त्राणि न प्रकाशन्ते प्रहृष्पन्ति वाजिन: । अग्नयश्व न भासन्ते समिद्धास्तन्न शोभनम्‌

śastrāṇi na prakāśante prahṛṣyanti vājināḥ | agnayaś ca na bhāsante samiddhās tan na śobhanam ||

Droṇa observes ominous signs: the weapons fail to shine, the horses grow strangely excited, and even the kindled fires do not blaze with their usual radiance. Such portents, he implies, are inauspicious—suggesting a disturbance in the moral and cosmic order that should restrain rash action and invite caution before violence is pursued.
