Vaiśampāyana said: Then the prince of Virāṭa, having set out from the capital and becoming wholly fearless, addressed the charioteer: “Drive on, O charioteer—go in the very direction where those Kauravas have gone.” In the narrative context, this marks Uttara’s resolve after receiving reassurance, turning fear into duty-bound action in the face of impending conflict.

Educational Q&A

Fear can be transformed into purposeful action when one aligns with dharma and receives right guidance; the verse highlights the ethical shift from hesitation to resolute duty in confronting wrongdoing.

Uttara, having left the capital and now reassured, instructs the charioteer (Bṛhannalā/Arjuna in disguise) to drive the chariot toward the direction where the Kauravas have gone, setting the pursuit in motion.
