After honoring them in the proper manner, Dharma’s son Yudhiṣṭhira asked the reason for their coming and the purpose of their wandering in the forest.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dhārmic conduct in receiving others: one should first honor guests properly (yathā-nyāyam) and then inquire into their reasons and aims without suspicion or discourtesy—combining respect with prudent discernment.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Yudhiṣṭhira, after giving due reception to the visitors, asks why they have come and what purpose they have in wandering in the forest.
