Dhaumya’s Enumeration of Eastern Tīrthas

Prācī-diś Tīrtha-kathana

yatra gaṅgā mahārāja sa deśas tat tapovanam | siddhikṣetraṃ ca taj jñeyaṃ gaṅgātīrarasamāśritam, mahārāja |

Pulastya said: “O great king, the land where the Gaṅgā flows is indeed a blessed country; that very region is to be regarded as a forest of austerities. Know also that the places resting on the Gaṅgā’s riverbank are ‘fields of spiritual attainment’—sites where disciplined living, purity, and sacred practice readily bear fruit.”
