O noble one, in the sacred region of Puṣkara, the gods—together with the companies of ṛṣis—long ago attained siddhi, being endowed with great merit.
घुलस्त्य उवाच
Merit (puṇya) accumulated through righteous living and sacred observance is portrayed as the cause of ‘siddhi’—true fulfillment or spiritual accomplishment; holy places like Puṣkara are exemplars where such merit is believed to bear fruit.
The speaker praises Puṣkara as an ancient, sanctifying tīrtha, stating that gods and seers in earlier times attained success there through great merit—thereby encouraging reverence for pilgrimage and virtuous practice.
