नलस्य बाहुकत्वेन ऋतुपर्णनगरप्रवेशः
Nala as Bāhuka enters Ṛtuparṇa’s city
तथा विलपतीमेकामरण्ये भीमनन्दिनीम् । दमयन्तीमथोचुस्ते तापसा: सत्यदर्शिन:,इस प्रकार वनमें अकेली विलाप करती हुई भीमनन्दिनी दमयन्तीसे सत्यका दर्शन करनेवाले उन तपस्वियोंने कहा--
tathā vilapatīm ekām araṇye bhīmanandinīm | damayantīm athocuḥ te tāpasāḥ satyadarśinaḥ ||
Thus, as Damayantī—Bhīma’s beloved daughter—lamented alone in the wilderness, those ascetics, seers devoted to truth, addressed her and spoke.
बृहृदश्च उवाच
Even in abandonment and grief, the presence of satyadarśin sages suggests that truth, compassion, and dharmic counsel remain accessible; suffering becomes a setting where ethical guidance and inner steadiness can be restored.
Damayantī is shown lamenting alone in the forest; a group of truth-seeing ascetics notice her condition and begin to speak to her, initiating counsel and support within the Nala–Damayantī episode.
