Educational Q&A

Nobility is shown through conduct: generous hospitality toward friends, truthful speech, and humility. Such virtues make a person naturally worthy of honor and trust.

Vaiśampāyana is describing a person’s commendable qualities in a character-portrait style, emphasizing how social generosity (food and drink), moral integrity (truthful speech), and inner discipline (absence of pride) define exemplary behavior.
