Divākara-prasāda and the Establishment of Akṣaya-anna
Sūrya’s Favor and Inexhaustible Provision
पुत्र त्यजेममहितं कुलस्य हितं परं॑ न च तत् त्वं चकर्थ । इदं च राजन् हितमुक्तं न चेत् त्व- मेवं कर्ता परितप्तासि पश्चात्,मैंने साफ कह दिया था कि आपका यह पुत्र समस्त कुलका अहित करनेवाला है, अतः इसको त्याग दीजिये; परंतु आपने मेरी उत्तम और सात्त्विक सलाहके अनुसार कार्य नहीं किया। राजन्! इस समय भी मैंने जो यह आपके हितकी बात बतायी है यदि उसे आप नहीं करेंगे तो आपको बहुत पश्चात्ताप करना पड़ेगा
putra tyajemam ahitaṁ kulasya hitaṁ paraṁ na ca tat tvaṁ cakartha | idaṁ ca rājan hitam uktaṁ na cet tvam evaṁ kartā paritaptāsi paścāt ||
Vidura said: “I told you plainly: ‘This son of yours will bring ruin upon the whole lineage; therefore abandon him for the greater good of the family.’ Yet you did not act as I advised. And even now, O King, if you do not do what I am again declaring for your welfare, you will be consumed by regret afterward.”
