निरुच्छवासो5 भवच्चैव संनिरुद्धों महात्मना । पपात भूम्यां निश्चेष्टो गतसत्त्व इवाभवत्‌,महात्मा भगवान्‌ शंकरके द्वारा भलीभाँति नियन्त्रित हो जानेके कारण अर्जुनकी श्वासक्रिया बंद हो गयी। वे निष्प्राणकी भाँति चेष्टाहीन होकर पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़े

nirucchvāso 'bhavac caiva saṁniruddho mahātmanā | papāta bhūmyāṁ niśceṣṭo gatasattva ivābhavat ||

So completely restrained by that great-souled one, he became bereft of breath. He fell to the ground, motionless, appearing as though his vital force had departed.
