Draupadī on Action, Fate, and Human Effort

स काम इति मे बुद्धि: कर्मणां फलमुत्तमम्‌ | 'पाँचों ज्ञानेन्द्रियों, मन और बुद्धिकी अपने विषयोंमें प्रवृत्त होनेके समय जो प्रीति होती है, वही मेरी समझमें काम है। वह कर्मोका उत्तम फल है

sa kāma iti me buddhiḥ karmaṇāṃ phalam uttamam |

Vaiśampāyana said: “In my understanding, that delight which arises when the five senses of knowledge, together with the mind and the intellect, turn toward their respective objects—this is called kāma (desire). It is regarded as the most prized ‘fruit’ that actions yield.”
