व्यक्त ते विदितो राजन्नर्थों द्रव्यपरिग्रह: । प्रकृतिं चापि वेत्थास्य विकृतिं चापि भूयसीम्‌,“राजन! आपको यह अच्छी तरह ज्ञात है कि धनसे ही भोग्य-सामग्रीका संग्रह होता है। धनका जो कारण है, उससे भी आप परिचित हैं और धनके द्वारा जो बहुत-से कार्य सिद्ध होते हैं, उसे भी आप जानते हैं

vyakta te vidito rājann artho dravya-parigrahaḥ | prakṛtiṁ cāpi vetthāsya vikṛtiṁ cāpi bhūyasīm ||

Vaiśampāyana said: “O King, it is plainly known to you that wealth enables the gathering of goods and resources for use and enjoyment. You also understand its source—what gives rise to wealth—and you know well the many further outcomes and far-reaching effects that wealth can bring about.”
