Markandeya said: After the royal consecration had been completed, Śrī Rāma—addressing the foremost of monkeys—granted leave to Sugrīva along with his circle of well-wishers, and also to Vibhīṣaṇa, the scion of Pulastya’s line, instructing them to return to their respective homes. Ethically, the moment underscores Rāma’s orderly governance: gratitude is honored, allies are respectfully released from obligation, and each is restored to rightful duty in his own realm.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
A righteous ruler completes obligations with gratitude and clarity: after success and celebration, allies are honored and then released to resume their own dharma, preventing dependence and maintaining proper order among kingdoms.
After Rāma’s coronation, he formally grants permission to Sugrīva (with his companions) and to Vibhīṣaṇa to depart and return to their respective homes/realms.
