Having received Rāma’s permission and duly honored him, Mātali departed at once in that chariot, radiant like the sun, and proceeded to Svarga.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic conduct in relationships: one should seek permission, offer due honor, and depart respectfully. Even a celestial figure like Mātali models humility and propriety toward Rāma.
After honoring Rāma and taking his leave, Mātali departs in a chariot shining like the sun and goes to Svarga, indicating the completion of his role as a divine envoy in the episode narrated by Mārkaṇḍeya.
