mahendra iva paulomyā bhāryayā sa sameyivān |
Mārkaṇḍeya said: He was reunited with his wife Paulomī, as though Mahendra (Indra) had rejoined his consort. Thereafter Śrī Rāmacandra bowed to the gods and, welcomed by his friends, met his wife Sītā—like Indra reunited with Śacī—an auspicious union framed by dharma, gratitude, and social harmony.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse uses Indra’s reunion with Śacī as a simile to present marital reunion as auspicious and dharmic—ideally preceded by reverence to the divine and affirmed by the goodwill of one’s community.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a husband reuniting with his wife, likening their meeting to Mahendra (Indra) coming together with Paulomī (Śacī), emphasizing the splendour and auspiciousness of the moment.
