Adhiratha-Rādhā Discover the Casket; Vasuṣeṇa (Karṇa) is Adopted and Formed

वधार्थमात्मनस्तेन हृता सीता दुरात्मना । नलकूबरशापेन रक्षा चास्या: कृता मया,दुरात्मा रावणने अपने वधके लिये ही सीताका अपहरण किया था। नलकूबरके शापद्दारा मैंने सीताकी रक्षाका प्रबन्ध कर दिया था

vadhārtham ātmanaḥ tena hṛtā sītā durātmanā | nalakūbaraśāpena rakṣā cāsyāḥ kṛtā mayā ||

Varuṇa said: “That wicked one abducted Sītā only to bring about his own destruction. And by the curse of Nalakūbara, I had already arranged for her protection.”
