Educational Q&A

The verse frames ethical evaluation through conduct (ācāra): Janamejaya highlights that inner disposition (durātman) manifests as outward behavior, and invites a dharma-centered assessment of how power and envy shape actions toward the vulnerable.

Janamejaya, listening to the Mahābhārata narration, asks the sage to explain how Duryodhana and the other Kauravas acted toward the Pāṇḍavas during their forest period, setting up the next episode describing Kaurava hostility and intrigue.
