Mudgalasya Svarga-nirvedaḥ
Mudgala’s Disenchantment with Heaven
devalokaṁ tato gatvā gandharvaiḥ sahitas tadā | nyavedayac ca tat sarvaṁ citrasenaḥ śatakratoḥ || devarāḍ api gandharvān mṛtāṁs tān u samajīvayat | divyenāmṛtavarṣeṇa ye hatāḥ kauravair yudhi ||
Then Chitrasena, accompanied by the Gandharvas, went to the world of the gods and reported the entire matter to Śatakratu (Indra). Thereupon the divine king himself revived those Gandharvas who had been slain in battle by the Kauravas, by causing a celestial rain of ambrosia to fall.
The passage highlights divine guardianship of cosmic order: even when violence occurs, higher authority (Indra) can restore balance and protect allied beings. It also implies responsibility in reporting truthfully to rightful authority after conflict.
After the battle in which some Gandharvas were killed by the Kauravas, Chitrasena goes with the Gandharvas to Devaloka and informs Indra of everything. Indra then revives the slain Gandharvas by showering divine amṛta.
