The Deer’s Dream-Appeal and the Move to Kāmyaka
अर्जुनस्य तु तां श्रुत्वा प्रतिज्ञां सत्यवादिन: । कौरवाणां तदा राजन् पुनः प्रत्यागतं मन:,राजन! सत्यवादी अर्जुनकी वह प्रतिज्ञा सुनकर कौरवोंके जीमें जी आया
arjunasya tu tāṁ śrutvā pratijñāṁ satyavādinaḥ | kauravāṇāṁ tadā rājan punaḥ pratyāgataṁ manaḥ ||
O King, when the Kauravas heard that vow of Arjuna—the steadfast speaker of truth—their spirits revived and their confidence returned once more.
अर्जुन उवाच
A vow grounded in truth (satya) carries ethical weight and practical force: the reliability of a dharmic person’s word can restore confidence, shape decisions, and influence the course of events.
The Kauravas hear Arjuna’s solemn pledge; because he is known as a truthful man, they take it seriously, and their hearts—meaning their courage and resolve—revive.
