चित्रसेन-समागमः / The Engagement with Citrasena and the Gandharvas
evam uktvā satyabhāmā virarāma yaśasvinī | pativratā mahābhāgā draupadī pratyuvāca tām ||
Having spoken thus, the illustrious Satyabhāmā fell silent. Then Draupadī—noble and steadfast in wifely devotion—replied to her in return, preparing to set forth her own understanding of a wife’s duty and conduct within dharma.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames an ethical exchange on dharma in domestic life: after Satyabhāmā finishes speaking, Draupadī—described as pativratā—responds, signaling that the discussion will center on ideals of fidelity, self-discipline, and righteous conduct within marriage.
Satyabhāmā concludes her statement and becomes silent; Draupadī then begins her reply. The verse functions as a transition marker in the dialogue, shifting the floor from Satyabhāmā to Draupadī.
