वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames a request for a dharmic, divinely sanctioned observance that brings reputation and prosperity, while also revealing the ethical tension between seeking auspicious outcomes and seeking control over another person—highlighting the need for restraint and right intention in religious practice.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a speaker addresses Pāñcālī (Draupadī) asking her to disclose a celebrated vow/rite of divine efficacy—one that increases fame and good fortune and ensures that the speaker’s beloved ‘Kṛṣṇa’ remains constantly devoted and compliant.
