Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes gṛhastha (household) dharma as disciplined, continuous practice: attentiveness, proper conduct, and devotion to the spouse’s welfare, along with faithfully following the ethical norms taught by elders within the family.

In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a woman speaks in self-description, asserting her exemplary household conduct—being well-groomed, focused on her husband’s good, and diligently observing the family duties earlier taught to her by her mother-in-law.
