Duryodhana’s Śaraṇāgati and the Pāṇḍavas’ Resolve

स हत्वा दानवगणान् पूज्यमानो महर्षिभि: । एकाह्लैवाजयत् सर्व त्रैलोक्य वल्विनन्दन:,अग्निनन्दन स्कन्दने सब दानवोंको मारकर महर्षियोंसे पूजित हो एक ही दिनमें समूची त्रिलोकीको जीत लिया
sa hatvā dānavagaṇān pūjyamāno maharṣibhiḥ | ekāhenaivājayat sarvaṃ trailokyaṃ valvinandanaḥ ||
Mārkaṇḍeya said: Having slain the hosts of Dānavas, and being honored by the great seers, Valvi’s son—Skanda, the son of Agni—conquered the entire threefold world in a single day.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse frames righteous force as legitimate when used to remove destructive powers (Dānavas) that threaten cosmic stability, and it underscores that true victory is ethically affirmed by the wise (maharṣis) who honor the protector.
Mārkaṇḍeya narrates Skanda’s swift triumph: after killing the Dānava hosts, Skanda is praised by great sages and is said to have subdued the entire three-world realm within a single day.
