Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Vana Parva, in the section known as the Mārkaṇḍeya-samāsya Parva, in the episode concerning the birth of the son of the Āṅgirasa lineage, ends the two-hundred-and-twenty-fifth chapter (i.e., the 225th adhyāya).
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
This line is a colophon rather than a didactic verse: it teaches how the Mahābhārata self-organizes—by parva, sub-parva, and episode-title—so that the narrative and its ethical discussions can be accurately located and transmitted.
The text is marking the close of an adhyāya within Vana Parva, specifically within the Mārkaṇḍeya-related sub-section, and identifies the chapter’s topic as an episode concerning the birth of a son in the Āṅgirasa lineage.
