Educational Q&A

The verse highlights that immense power, when it breaks natural boundaries (symbolized by splitting the earth and entering the underworld), can create widespread fear and destabilize the sense of security even among exalted beings—implying the ethical need for restraint and responsible use of force.

A formidable agent (as identified in the surrounding context) cleaves the earth and descends into Rasātala; this extraordinary movement becomes a terrifying portent, causing great alarm among devas, dānavas, and yakṣas.
