Kṛtayuga Description and Instruction on Royal Dharma
अपीदानीं शरीरेडस्मिन् मामके मुनिसत्तम | उषितस्त्व॑ सुविश्रान्तो मार्कण्डेय ब्रवीहि मे,“'मुनिश्रेष्ठ मार्कण्डेय! क्या तुम मेरे इस शरीरमें रहकर विश्राम कर चुके? मुझे बताओ”
apīdānīṁ śarīre 'smin māmake munisattama | uṣitas tvaṁ suviśrānto mārkaṇḍeya bravīhi me ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “O best of sages, Mārkaṇḍeya—have you now dwelt within this body of mine and found full rest? Tell me.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights reverence toward sages and the ethic of considerate inquiry—asking whether a revered guest or spiritual authority has been properly accommodated and is at ease, reflecting dharmic attentiveness in speech and conduct.
Vaiśaṃpāyana addresses the sage Mārkaṇḍeya, asking whether he has stayed within ‘my body’ and become fully rested, and requests him to speak—an inquiry that frames a larger account or revelation to follow.
