एवमुक्त: स भगवान् मार्कण्डेयो महातपा: । उवाच सुमहातेजा: सर्वशास्त्रविशारद:,उनके ऐसा कहनेपर महातपस्वी, महान् तेजस्वी और सम्पूर्ण शास्त्रोंके निपुण विद्वान् भगवान् मार्कण्डेयने इस प्रकार कहा
evam uktaḥ sa bhagavān mārkaṇḍeyo mahātapāḥ | uvāca sumahātejāḥ sarvaśāstraviśāradaḥ ||
Thus addressed, the venerable sage Mārkaṇḍeya—of great austerity, radiant spiritual power, and mastery of all sacred disciplines—responded.
