Sarasvatī–Tārkṣya Saṃvāda: Agnihotra-vidhi, Dāna-phala, and Mokṣa-prasaṅga (सरस्वती–तार्क्ष्यसंवादः)
हजारों वर्षोकी अवस्थावाले उन वृद्ध महर्षिके पधारनेपर पाण्डवोंसहित भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण तथा समस्त ब्राह्मणोंने उनका पूजन किया। पूजित होनेपर जब वे अत्यन्त विश्वास करनेयोग्य मुनिश्रेष्ठ आसनपर विराजमान हो गये, तब वहाँ आये हुए ब्राह्मणों और पाण्डवोंकी सम्मतिसे भगवान् श्रीकृष्णने इस प्रकार कहा ।। श्रीकृष्ण उवाच शुश्रूषव: पाण्डवास्ते ब्राह्मणाश्व समागता: । द्रौपदी सत्यभामा च तथाहं परमं वच:,श्रीकृष्ण बोले--मार्कण्डेयजी! आपके उपदेश सुननेकी इच्छासे यहाँ पाण्डवोंके साथ-साथ बहुत-से ब्राह्मण भी पधारे हुए हैं। द्रौपदी, सत्यभामा तथा मैं, सब लोग आपकी उत्तम वाणीका रसास्वादन करना चाहते हैं। आप प्राचीनकालके नरेशों, नारियों तथा महर्षियोंकी पुरातन पुण्य कथाएँ सुनाइये और हमलोगोंसे सनातन सदाचारका वर्णन कीजिये
śrīkṛṣṇa uvāca | śuśrūṣavaḥ pāṇḍavās te brāhmaṇāś ca samāgatāḥ | draupadī satyabhāmā ca tathāhaṃ paramaṃ vacaḥ ||
Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: “O Mārkaṇḍeya, the Pāṇḍavas have come here eager to listen, and many brāhmaṇas too have assembled. Draupadī, Satyabhāmā, and I as well long to taste your excellent speech. Please recount the ancient meritorious traditions—stories of kings, women, and great seers of old—and expound to us the timeless standards of righteous conduct.”
