इन्द्रस्य पाण्डवैः समागमः

Indra’s Meeting with the Pāṇḍavas

Vaiśampāyana said: Hundreds of Gandharvas, and likewise companies of Apsarases, stood surrounding Kubera in attendance—just as the gods encircle Śatakratu (Indra). The scene underscores the majesty of rightful sovereignty: celestial beings gather around the lord they acknowledge, offering service and honor in an ordered, harmonious court.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ideal of ordered reverence: beings of a realm naturally gather around and serve the rightful lord, suggesting that authority grounded in cosmic order (and recognized merit) draws willing attendance rather than coercion.

Vaiśampāyana describes a splendid celestial assembly where Gandharvas and Apsarases stand around Kubera in attendance, likening the scene to the gods surrounding Indra.
